Your name popped into my head today after all of these years. I saw you at a small radio promotion type of thing in 1980 or 81 with Alabama in northern Kentucky. I started searching the internet today and found your site. Music has always been in my heart and a great inspiration in good and bad times. Little did I know you had written some of those songs that were a comfort in times of turmoil. My family's from Eastern Kentucky and Tom T. Hall is a cousin of Dad's. Songwriting like so many other things is such a gift from God. He has watched over so many of us in hard times and with faith and determination, He bring us to the successes we currently have. Love, Prayers & Congratulations .. Patty

Dean-So good to hear that all is well and you are back on the road. I adore your music and loved Those were the days, & Brotherly Love. Gary was a friend of mine a very dear friend. Along with his friends in Ft. Pierce. I would love to see you and Scotty Emerick play. HE is a GREAT singer. Maybe soon you and him can stop in and play us Floridians some good ol music.

Hope to see you soon

I'm overjoyed to have found your website. When I think of the best writer of country music, you are always the first person I think of. When our King George gives us another album, the first songs I look for are yours because I KNOW they will be the best ones. A true joy to hear, "West Texas Town".

Hello Dean!

So glad I was able to find you on the internet. You might want to make first order of business to be your search engine result on Google. When you put your name in the browser, your website does not come up.. I just happened to try it and it worked.
As it happens, we seem to know some of the same people, so, happily I have found you and I'm looking forward to getting to know you better and enjoying more of your music. I see you are at the Blue in N'ville coming up... I'd like to know if you ever come out to California...lots of great crowds out here too you know!
Anyhow...Here's to getting to know your work.

Kind regards,

Do the names Dale, Don & Lisa from NC ring any bells? How bout Steve and Linda and a pretty fun week in Murfreesboro? *lol* Just wanted to say hey. Haven't seen you in forever, but I've always kept up with your writing. So glad to see you have a webpage! I checked on Myspace for you, but had no luck other than a tie-in with GS's sight. I love George, but you do deserve your own page! Just wanted to stop by and say HI from the NC gang and if you're ever down Hickory way again, give a yell and we'll all get together for supper one night. Dale is still a mean cook!

Take care, keep writing and God Bless!

Memory Jogger
Jan 23, 2009
Dean,

Here's one for the fans and a memory jogger for you Dean. I don't recall the year (1977-1980), but you were in Princeton Illinois playing at a local tavern during the Thanksgiving Holiday. My parents (Elmer and Julia McCullough) invited you over for Thanksgiving dinner and you played a few songs for the kids who sat around in a half circle on the floor. I recall one song about "Banging on Pots and Pans". I've enjoyed your music over the years... keep it coming.

Respectfully,

Ryan McCullough

Dean. I have been fan of yours for years. I get so excited when an artist's new album comes out that I know has one of your songs on it. I just have to buy that song and I have to say I am never dissapointed. I know it's probably a (very very) long shot but please come to play for your many fans in Ireland.
God Bless. David.

We all know of your own wonderful voice and talent. We also know that on any George Strait album, your songs will touch our hearts the most.
"The Breath You Take", written by
you and your beautiful daughter, has had me crying for 2 days and the CD isn't out until tomorrow. Prior to this song, I would be hard pressed to say which one I loved the most, because they were all wonderful but this one, will now be my forever favorite. Our "baby boy" will be 30 in 2 weeks and this is THE song we'll give to him. You owe me 2 boxes
of Kleenex =)
Trying to remember
Aug 29, 2009
I'm trying to remember a name of one of your songs. I think the lyrics go something like this. " Because the new never wore off my sweet baby, we fell in love all over everynight." I hope thats right. I remember the videos of you sitting in that barn singing it around a few others. So if ya can help me out that would be great.

Dear Dean,I've just recently discovered you,in the last 2 months, since moving form north carolina,my homeland,to Kentucky. A Friend of Mine shared with Me a cassette of yours from the early 70's. can you beleive it!
I gotta tell Dean, the song "Father,Son,and the Holy Ghost" is ONE of THEE DEEPEST,and MOST MOVING SONGS,I have ever heard in MY entire 51 years of living on Earth. I cry everytime I hear it Man. Its a Positive to Me and VERY HEALING Song as well. I Play four intruments, inclding guitar and I've got to learn this song, to both play it and sing it. I tell ya Man,if this song dont touch the heart of the person listening, they're dead.Thank YOU Dean, from the bottom of MY Heart. Be cuz of this song Dean,YOU'LL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART,MOST SINCERLEY,KEITH.

I have been to many many concerts over my lifetime, from small settings to stadiums packed for U2 or the Stones. THE all-time best was your concert at Sundance July of 2008 with Scotty Emerick and Shawn Camp. Your lyrics, and the way you sing, are just so special. I hope to see you again. JS

You write the best songs, but I guess my favorite is A COUNTRY BOY (Who Rolled The Rock Away). Having grown up in the 50's i can really relate to what you wrote about. I have the cassette and when I'm out in my garage working on my 55 Chevy I play it all the time. Also really like Friday Night's Woman and The Umbrella Song. About 20 years ago I picked you when your old Chevrolet truck broke down out near Nolensville- I think you was tending to your cattle. I stopped and you hopped in and we went looking for some tools. A year or two later I ran into you and your family at the Nashville Flea Market. Love all your work, hope to meet up with you again sometime. My mom had an old saying "I felt like a penny waitin' for change" when something went wrong. I wish you could somehow put it in a song sometime.

Thank you for the vast song-writing contribution that you have made to the country music genre over many years.

Thank you also for being so gracious to me when you provided a 'Peer's Quote' (on Wednesday 11 August 2010) about Gene Watson that I added to the Ireland-based Gene Watson Fan Site, a site that I have been running since September 2004.
